Salt Lake Regionals 2014

March 13-15, 2014 were the Salt Lake City Regional FRC competitions. The competition was held at the Maverik Center in West Valley City, Utah.
For most of the team, it was their first time to see the robot for PrototypeX in competition! It was so exciting!! We had a fun weekend. The pit crew did a great job keeping the robot in working condition.  They also greeted lots of visitors interested in our awesome robot.
The team spent a lot of time moving the robot on and off the field.  They spent WAY more time than they wanted changing bumpers depending on if they were with the red alliance or the blue alliance.

Here is a pregame strategy session.  Things were moving so fast between matches! There was not a lot of time to change bumpers and talk strategy with other teams.
Ready to play?! Our robot was awesome! It got its points during the autonomous period most of the the time. He is a pretty consistent robot!
SCORE!!!
During one of their last matches, the playing was pretty rough. Our poor little robot got beat up pretty bad. It threw a track. Keith (coach) had told his team captain to let the judges know that we would not be able to compete any more. Just as the team captain was headed off, one of the boys said "stop!"  All the pit crew followed with a few tools a lot of determination to get their robot back on the field.  A team on the opposition gave us their time out so we would have time to make needed repairs. Without our track, the robot couldn't move and we were dead. GAME OVER.  Another team came to Keith (someone we beat) and said they had a guy that was a "track expert" and he fixed our robot in no time at all.  Yea for awesome people doing amazing things!  We continued on! Our goal was to take first place and  head to worlds competition. PrototypeX came in 2nd. Everyone's hopes were dashed. We had so many sad and disappointed faces in the crowd.  We expected to go to St. Louis, MO to compete in worlds. Wait... what?!  They announced that PrototypeX had won the Engineering Inspiration award!!  We were going to St Louis!!  It took a few moments for the whispers to spread throughout the team. As each person got the word that we were really going there were cheers rippling throughout our section of the stadium! St Louis, HERE WE COME!!! Here is Team PrototypeX Recieving the Engineering Inspiration Award at the Salt Lake City Regionals 2014.
Congratulations team! You all did such a great job!  Thank you to the coaches and mentors! We could not have done it with out all of your time and late nights!
